Blog Stage Seven: Original editorial or commentary #2

As I mentioned on Stage Five assignment, Austin Tree Ordinance violates private property Rights, Government is trying to regulate and protect trees in the very strict way, however, even it has great purpose, the government is facing an angry backlash from landowners over the overregulation. Because the government is not just protecting trees but also they are violating the property rights. it would be so awkward to require a government permit to trim or remove your trees in your backyard garden. For example, if a landowner wants to remove a tree in order to construct an improvement such as swimming pool, one has to get a permit of tree-cutting from the government. Moreover, if the government denied, then the landowner has to keep up with that without any compensation though he is the owner of the property, can do nothing. This directly contradicts Article I, Section 17 of the Texas Constitution, which provides that “no person’s property shall be taken, damaged or destroyed for or applied to public use without adequate compensation being made.”

Recently, around 50 cities have adopted burdensome tree-cutting regulations and ordinances that cause a huge amount of expenditure, according to data from the Texas International Society of Arboriculture. If the trend continues, there may not be many places left soon where a Texans’ right to private property is secure from the government.

Fortunately, some of representatives and senators recognized the danger of overregulation and they are trying to make the best bills that can solve those problems. They said, "there is no explicit answer to solve the problem but we will as much effort as much possible to make a bill that respects the private property right."

I am taking physical geography class in this semester and we are currently learning about how severe degree of global warming around the world now. It keeps worse and worse and the warming was 80% to 90% the result of the long-term climate pattern. The warming trend over the past few decades can be linked to the burning oil or cutting tree..etc.

So my point is Even though property rights are an essential ingredient to free society, There is nothing more important than our home, the earth is our property, too.

Blog Stage Six: Comment on a colleague's work #1

Hello!!

I hope you enjoy my comment and it might little unorganized due to my English skills.
I tired my best!

When I read Alexander's commentary( Guns on Campus), it was very impressed to me. It talks about ACC campuses will be allowed open carry guns, and he was pointing out that it was huge mistake decision. He is giving few reasons that it is huge mistake, which are gun laws are not really laws, because if you are over 18 to own a "long barreled" gun, they can openly carry that weapon and do not need a license for them. It might be very hard to regulate them because they are young. they are like football, do not know where it goes. Moreover, it does not even requiring huge process for carrying handgun. It is only a least 21 years of age, take courses and pay a $ 140 fee and you will receive a license in 60 days, also there is no waiting time on purchasing gun. If you have money, you can just buy out a firearm and do not need to register your arms if you buy the firearm out of state. He is pointing out that this easy process to get a gun licence has potential criminal because you never know who owns the firearm or if people are carrying openly, it would be also threaten to students. Funny thing is when UT austin was trying to allow the law that open carry, girls, who are going UT, protested with carrying dildo in their handbag.

I really feel impressed that when he pointed "Our "laws" are not laws if they do so little to protect us and can be bypassed so easily." because it is true. The open carry on campus would nothing to protect students from other students, maybe it can provoke more tension between students.

Even though he suggested very smart laws, I do not think that is not going to work also carrying gun in campus is not right for students. School is for study not for fighting, maybe sometimes a criminal could be happen in campus, but that is not student's responsibility, its school security guard's, that is why we are paying expensive tuitions and giving them the money. Maybe they could not all covers the criminal or potential threats, but carrying gun would provoke more problems.

Stage Five: Original editorial or commentary #1

Recently, due to global warming, The U.S government is attempting to protect environmental with legislating enviro politics. However, those hard-line policies are making another argument.

I really want to share this article which is Austin Tree Ordinance violates private property Rights. As you see the title, if you are not a foreigner, you should recognize what is it about.

While reading this article, I could definitely what the problem is and I realize that the issue is very complicated and deep. Honestly, there is nothing that is more significant than Human Right, but it is not that we can abuse the nature. Also, the government should not forcefully take away the property from the citizen without their agreement even though with any compensation. On Article I, section 17 of the Texas Constitution, which provides that "no person's property shall be taken, damaged or destroyed for or applied to public use without adequate compensation being made." I believe that there is not a definite solution, but what we have got to do is meditate each other with harmoniously and concessively.

Honestly, this issue is very hilarious to me. I am not want to people understand me, but let me just say this. Even though we own money, land, and building... etc. It is not ours, its earth. Most of the materials for our creation are from earth, what we all have is loaned by the earth. We should realize where we living.

Blog Stage Four: Substantial commentary or criticism #2

Hi, I would like to share this time about "who believes a Texas minimum wage hike up free?" by Vance Ginn.

I totally agree with this writer's opinion which he saying that "Setting a minimum wage floor above the market wage results in a bad outcome called unemployment.". It is very true fact. Raising minimum wage would seem like settle the problem of poverty of low-class people on its surface, however, this is not the right way to solve the problem. Additionally, he gives more details about the negative outcome of increasing minimum wage, and it does really make sense to me even I am a foreigner. In Reseach shows that If minimum wage hikes up to $15, Texas could lose nearly 1 million full-time jobs, add an explanation to, the state government cannot afford these massive unemployment people. Raising minimum has a double edged sword, the government must very carefully to handle the it.

Blog Stage Three: Substantial commentary or criticism #1

Hello, this time I would like to talk about this article THE TEXAS MIRACLE ISN'T ALL ABOUT OIL by Vance Ginn, Ph.D.

“Liberal economist Paul Krugman and others have argued the Texas miracle would end after the steep drop I oil prices”. Texas economic has been rapidly growing after the Civil war. Yes, oil was the catalyst for the expansion of Texas economic, however, it is not the only one that causes the expansion of Texas economic. Krugman’s and others’ argument is that the Texas miracle was only about oil prices and not the Texas model of low taxes which are no personal income tax, restrained government spending, and predictable regulations. However, Vance Ginn (Author) oppose the Krugman and others’ argument and I totally agree with that. The author starts with explaining of what the miracle was which is about Texas has created 36 of total U.S employment in a state with less than 10 percent of the U.S population, additionally, U.S could not turn positive of civilian employment until January 2015 and could not surpass Texas’ job creation until November 2015. Yes, job creation and economic growth in Texas is slower than when the oil price was the peak. Even though oil and gas activity have been slowed enormously, Texas’ unemployment rate was still remaining low. I believe that not only drop in oil price is an isolated economic that contributed to slower growth in Texas but also slower global economy. And, the author opposes Krugman’s opinion with mentioning “Free-market economies”.

While I was reading Vance’s critique, it was very interesting. It gives a lot of details of Texas economy with specifical stats. He finishes with this quote “By continuing to reduce the size and scope of government, families will prosper and refute the false claims by Krugman and others. The truth is, it’s not all about oil in Texas.”

Blog Stage Two: Article introduction and colleague's blogs

Hello, everyone. I would like to suggest this article "Austin moms turning to marijuana to treat postpartum depression."  written by Arezow Doost.

The article talks about 1 in 7 women battle with the postpartum depression and some of the people are trying to overwhelm the postpartum with Marijuana. Celia Behar who having post-partum, had a suggestion from her doctor, to begin using cannabis to relieve the symptoms of PPD/PTSD and she explained that it had been worked well with her postpartum. In additional, Cannabis allows postpartum depression patient to slow the reaction process so that they do not make wrong decisions.  In Texas law, marijuana is defined as drug exceptionally for medical. Texas legalized cannabis oil for just medical case two years ago. Commonly, People have a bad perception of marijuana because it is defined by law as an illegal, I do not want to say that that is the wrong perception but that perception needs to be changed. The reason that I pick this article is I just want to say that marijuana is not unquestionably bad. Currently, marijuana is widely using for medication and it helps a lot of patients.  There are might be a lot of negative things about marijuana but I just want to say that don't ignore small positive things.
